Trees We Grow
With stout needles about three quarters of an inch in length, the blue spruce’s foliage can vary in color from dark green to pale or indigo blue. Its sturdy branching, good needle retention, and stunning blue shade make it a desirable Christmas tree that can be well-shaped and has a classic appearance. Its hardy branches are capable of supporting heavy ornaments and blue or white lights look particularly striking with this species.
This fir is found within the Canaan Valley in northeastern West Virginia. It is very similar in appearance to Balsam fir but tends to have slightly longer needles and a richer green color. Its fine color and excellent needle retention make it an increasingly popular Christmas tree. With soft needles and a pleasing fragrance, this species is a natural crowd pleaser for a traditional Christmas look, and is an excellent option for those who also like Douglas or Fraser firs. It is best suited for lighter-weight ornaments.
This fir, which is also known as White fir, is widely distributed in the southwestern portion of the United States and is one of our most popular species. It has soft, silvery blue foliage with flattened needles about two to three inches in length and a distinctive citrus aroma reminiscent of oranges. Its outstanding color, excellent needle retention, and superior fragrance have made it a favorite with many who visit our farm and often return yearly for this specific species.
This is a beautiful, compact tree with short, blue-green needles. Its uniform shape, color, and excellent needle retention make it a fine choice for both landscaping and Christmas trees. It has the classic appearance of a Victorian Christmas tree and acts as a wonderful canvas to showcase a wide variety of ornaments and lights of all colors.
This spruce is widely distributed throughout northern United States and Canada. It has delicate, blue-green foliage with needles about one-half inch in length. It has a dense, full shape and is sturdy enough to hold many ornaments.
